Electric mobility products are not regulated in exactly the same way in every country.

Requirements can depend on:

A specification that is acceptable for one market may require a different configuration or documentation in another.

Product Certification Is Not the Same as Market Classification

Do Not Assume One Certificate Covers Every Market

Certificates and test reports normally relate to particular products, components, standards or markets.

They should not automatically be presented as universal approval.

For an international manufacturer, the more practical approach is often to develop different configurations for different markets.

For example, a recreational high-power cruiser may be marketed differently from a low-power pedal-assist bicycle intended for public-road use.

What Should Buyers Request From a Supplier?

Importers should request copies of applicable documentation and confirm:

The final compliance responsibility should be confirmed for the destination market before commercial importation.
